Koch-Glitsch is much more than one of the world’s largest manufacturer of mass transfer equipment. We deliver solutions that will optimize your tower capacity and efficiency. For an emergency replacement equipment requirement, Koch-Glitsch is your best choice to minimize downtime. And no one is better at installing Koch-Glitsch equipment than KSPS, our field service group. New Equipment - New distillation trays, packings, and internals Replacement Services & Equipment - Emergency replacement of trays, packings, and internals. Application Engineering - Koch-Glitsch engineers can provide process studies and simulations to develop the best mass transfer solution to maximize your unit performance. Pilot Plant Testing Services - Pilot plant testing is available for customers in our 9 pilot plant towers. Additionally, our joint venture company, KMPS, offers pilot plant testing in Houston for distillation, liquid-liquid extraction, and equilibrium data development. Click here for more details. Eta Process Plant designs and supplies package plant solutions for gas scrubbing and odor removal plants, distillation units, and applications using engineered plastics. Located in the United Kingdom, it is a world leader in the field of deaeration, with over 300 units operating both on and offshore. Koch Specialty Plant Services - Field service installation Koch Otto York - Mist elimination equipment Research & Development - The future of an organization is its research & development department. Modular Process Systems (KMPS) - KMPS specializes in the design and supply of modular mass transfer systems and engineered equipment, such as distillation and liquid-liquid extraction columns, for solvent recovery and product purification. This is backed up by a sophisticated pilot plant facility in Houston, where complete separations can be confirmed, and vapor-liquid equilibrium data can be developed, when not available in the general literature databases. Liquid-Liquid Extraction - (KMPS) Extraction Technology Group specializes in the design and supply of SCHEIBEL®, KARR®, agitated, pulsed, packed, sieve tray, SMVP and rotating disc contactor (RDC) liquid-liquid extractor columns. These designs are generally confirmed in a pilot plant in Houston where liquid-liquid equilibrium data can be developed (shake tests), when not available. General Trays and Packing Trays Versus Packings Generally, packing works best at low Flow Parameters. The low pressure drop of structured packing makes it very attractive for use in vacuum columns, especially the EB Recycle columns of styrene plants. At high Flow Parameters, such as those that are encountered in high pressure distillation columns, trays work best. Ethylene, propylene and xylene purification columns are particularly good tray applications. Trays Koch-Glitsch has been manufacturing distillation trays for many years. With the evolution from bubble cap to sieve to valve trays and now to specialty, high capacity trays, Koch-Glitsch has been a driving force for decades in tray design improvements. Koch-Glitsch has the broadest line of tray devices available in the industry. From conventional trays – sieve trays and FLEXITRAY® -- to high performance trays -- VARIOFLEX®, SUPERFRAC® trays, SUPER-FLUX® trays, and our highest capacity ULTRA-FRAC® trays, Koch-Glitsch has the right tray for your application. Koch-Glitsch also manufactures sieve, bubble cap, tunnel, dualflow, chimney, disc-and-donut, and other specialty trays to meet specific customer requirements. For new columns, Koch-Glitsch high-capacity trays can be employed to reduce diameters, heights or both. For existing columns, they can replace existing trays to increase capacities, reduce utilities or improve separations. In total, our high-capacity trays have been employed in over 1,000 columns. VARIOFLEX® trays are applicable across a broad range of rates and are particularly applicable where high turndown is required. Design engineers at Koch-Glitsch have the knowledge and experience to assist you in optimizing performance. Contact Koch-Glitsch or download our new KG-TOWER® ratings program to evaluate your situation. Packing Koch-Glitsch offers a wide range of packing to meet your specific needs. Structured Packing – Koch-Glitsch was the first to pioneer the original structured packing in 1975, and the first to pioneer the high capacity version in 1997. FLEXIPAC® packing and FLEXIPAC® HC® high performance packing elements consist of perforated corrugated sheets with surface texturing. The unique geometric design results in intimate mixing and radial distribution of liquid and gas streams. This structure provides higher capacity, higher efficiency and lower pressure drop than any tray or random packing available. Koch-Glitsch wire gauze structured packing is the most efficient commercial tower packing available today. It is fabricated from a woven wire fabric material that is completely self-wetting. Experimental research has confirmed that wire diameter and mesh opening dimensions have been selected to maximize capillary forces. This enhances the self-wetting characteristic and pre-flooding is not required to attain the wetted condition. Koch-Glitsch wire gauze packing is particularly well suited for applications where low pressure drop is important and liquid rates are low (as low as 0.1 gpm/ft2). KATAMAX® structured packing, which has been developed for reactive distillation, represents a unique and proprietary approach to expose a solid catalyst to a reacting liquid stream. KATAMAX®structured packing has been highly successful in the production of ethers. Grid Packing is used for applications where dirty or fouling conditions are encountered. Koch-Glitsch offers four types of grid: FLEXIGRID®-2, FLEXIGRID®-3, FLEXIGRID®-4, and GLITSCH GRID® EF-25A. The choice of grid depends on whether capacity, efficiency, or heat transfer is critical. All four types of FLEXIGRID® grids provide low pressure drop, low hold up and superior fouling resistance. Random Packing - Koch-Glitsch manufactures both conventional (FLEXISADDLE®) and high efficiency (FLEXIMAX®, CASCADE MINI-RINGS® [CMR™]) random packings fabricated from metal, plastic or ceramic. FLEXIMAX® and CMRs random packings provide up to 15% capacity improvement. Packed Tower Internals -- Even the most efficient packing cannot function properly if the support plates are bottlenecks, if liquid is poorly distributed over the packed bed, or if no provision is made to redistribute the liquid at regular intervals. Proper selection and design of packed tower distributors, collectors, supports and other column internals are essential for optimum packing performance |
