Working principle
A float in a bypass chamber (standpipe), fitted on the side of a tank, rises and falls with the liquid level of the medium in the tank being measured. The bypass chamber is completely liquid and gas tight. The only moving part in contact with the liquid is the float. When the float moves a two coloured magnetic roller is turned through 180 ° by the magnet built into the float and this causes a change in colour in the sight window on the outside of the chamber. In this way a continuous visual indication of the liquid level is achieved, completely without any external power source.
A magnetic level indicator is also available for over-tank mounting. With this design rollers are fitted on a chamber above the tank and turn due to the effect of a magnet at the top end of a guide rod, which is supported at its bottom end by a float. The only part in contact with the liquid in this design is the float.
